SPAIN & CATALONIA

Spain has been incorporated as a full member of the European Union in 1989. Since then Spain’s economy and infrastructure have highly profited from the European market.

Spain is divided into several independent states of which Catalonia with its capital city Barcelona is located on the Western Mediterranean seaboard.

BARCELONA

The city of Barcelona is home to 6 million people and has its own unique history, language and culture.

Barcelona has a unique mix of architectures from historic Roman foundations up to Gothic and modern Vanguard styles. This converts the city into one of the most attractive and exciting cities in the world. The result is a wonderful, somewhat bizarre and quirky atmosphere.

Barcelona’s architectural highlight is the cathedral "La Sagrada Familia" designed by Antoni Gaudi.

BARCELONA - CUSINE - SHOPPING - NIGHTLIFE

Catalonian cuisine undoubtedly produces some of Spain’s finest cooking. With a port to the Mediterranean Sea, Barcelona naturally has access to the freshest seafood. Together with other fresh Spanish products such as fruits and vegetables its cuisine guarantees tasty and delicious dishes.

Not only fish is excellent here, meat dishes are also definitely worth a try. A normal meal consists of a solid meat or fish dish, accompanied by plenty of fresh vegetables and salad.

When it comes to nighlife Barcelona is the hippest place to be with its almost exhausting nightlife and intoxicating level of energy along with the local’s friendliness.

Barcelona’s nightlife is wild and tireless! With the endless selection of restaurants, bars, nightclubs and discos it is impossible not to enjoy the great atmosphere of this metropolis.

To begin an evening, it may be a good idea to go for some drinks at one of the city’s many bars or sample a great meal at a good restaurant. The rest of the evening depends on the energy you have. If dancing is on the cards, you’ll find an endless list of discos and nightclubs. Also very common in Barcelona are clubs with live music, featuring a broad range of styles, from jazz to flamenco, African and even classical music.

Another option is simply trying out several bars in one night, the so called “bar crawling”.
PLUS Languages - Sprachcaffe International language schools, courses and programs Throughout Barcelona you will find works of Antoni Gaudi which are noticeably breaking with the straight line design concept by introducing arcs and round or curved elements.

The medieval seduction of the Gothic quarter side by side to this modern design creates a unique and enchanting elegance.

A must-see is the “Las Ramblas” promenade with its great shops and constant activities.

At almost any time you will find fortune tellers, jugglers and acrobats, mime artists, cartoon artists and much more.

For beach lovers and holiday makers, Barcelona offers clean and sunny beaches close to the city centre.
